Alternative Transportation

SAVE THE EARTH, RIDE A BIKE

Transportation was responsible for 28.6% of greenhouse gas emissions in the United States in 2001, second only to GHG emissions from eletrical utilities. (Worldwide, the transportation sector is responsible for 13.5% of GHG emissions, including 9.9% from road travel and 1.6% from air travel.) For all GHG, the state of Michigan emits as much as the Netherlands, and Michigan, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia together emit as much as India.

If you drive a car, you can reduce the amount of GHG you emit while driving through simple measures recommended by the EPA or offset your driving with a TerraPass. The best option is to use alternative transportation.
